Seven Months Later...

Oh my...seven months without an entry. I am officially the worst. blogger. ever. Sadly I am only here because I must discuss American Idol since I just watched both shows from this week and no one else is awake to dissect them with me. We'll start with whom I am loving...

The girls...Mandisa, Paris, Katharine, and to a slightly lesser extent, Lisa.
The guys...Chris, Taylor, and Ace a little bit.

Now on to whom I hate and wish to be gone from my TV immediately...

The girls...Brenna, Stevie, and Heather.
The guys...Patrick and Gedeon.

I think the best comment of the night was when Simon told Gedeon there was something he didn't like about his smile. I totally agree with that one...he looks like an overly-medicated mental patient! Never before have I seen someone smile to the extent that I could see every single one of his teeth...creepy. As far as looks go, Mike has killed any bit of love I might have had for Kinnik by declaring at first sight that she looks like Omarosa...not to mention the mouth...she could rival Gedeon on that. Perhaps they should get together...I have a picture of a largemouth bass around here that would be a remarkably accurate predicition of what their offspring would look like.

I think the most confusing contestant of the night for me was Will, because he looked like so many people at once I was completely distracted. First I said he looked like whichever Savage kid was on Boy Meets World...then Mike said a young Tom Hanks...then I decided he was a young Donny Osmond...but then Paula said he looked like Bobby Brady and he did...this kid looks like EVERYONE!!! I think part of the reason I like Katharine McPhee is that she has a bit of a "Joey Potter" thing happening...not to mention that she's AWESOME.

Uneventful...Just How I Like It

Life has been mostly uneventful the past few days, which sure beats the craziness that was going on before that! I had a very calm night at work, which is always a good thing! As a matter of fact, I'm only at the computer to burn a few CDs for some of the kids since they were so good. I need to head to bed soon because I didn't sleep well last night. We had Daisy spayed yesterday and even after giving her medicine she was whining and crying most of the night. She was also very feisty and kept biting us when she was hurting...I have lots of tiny tooth mark on my hand today. She's doing better now though, so I think everyone will be able to sleep tonight.

I went out and bought two new books yesterday, so now I'm reading like crazy again. Last week I read The Notebook and The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants, courtesy of my Mom. Both were pretty good, I think I may even get the other two books in the Traveling Pants series. For now though, I am content with James Patterson's latest - The Lifeguard (which I started last night) and Jeffrey Deaver's The Twelfth Card (the latest in the Lincoln Rhyme series). My next purchase will probably the Countdown by Iris Johansen, then the Traveling Pants books.

So work is calm, Daisy is letting me sleep tonight, and I have new books...what more do I need?

Bi-Something Update

It's been almost two months since I updated, so I was going to call this my bi-monthly entry. Then I figured that "bi-monthly" would be two entries each month and heaven knows I can't live up to that kind of pressure. Bah, who needs it? That's what I say!

I'm really only updating because I had a very crazy night at work tonight and need to unwind a bit. I caught up on other blogs I hadn't read in awhile and then decided to throw you all a bone and update mine too.

In my last update I noted that a certain stray beagle had conned Mike into bringing her home with him. We've had her for almost two months now and she's doing well. Abby's still a bit jealous and doesn't like to share the attention, but she is the best of friends with Daisy anyway. Both beagles are a bit weirded out right now because they're used to being allowed on the furniture...but we got new living room furniture yesterday and I have banned them from it, at least for now. You should see me shooing them away if they even look like they're thinking about getting up there...I'm the furniture nazi as far as they're concerned.

Work is going well, although all the extra time I imagined I'd have during the day has not yet materialized. Me and my stupid need to sleep a normal amount is messing everything up. It would be fine if I could get off of work at 11:00, get home and go to bed. However, I am always wound up and rarely go to sleep before 2:30am. Last night I had taken some meds for a sinus headache around 10:00 and was amazingly in bed shortly after 1:00am. That could also have been the furniture moving I did when I got home...taking all the books from the bookcase, getting the bookcase up two flights of stairs and then bringing all the books up and putting them back in place was not my finest idea. Mike scolded me because I decided to be She-Ra instead of wait for him to help.

To all who are reading this who were sure I had fallen off the face of the Earth, rest assured that I am still alive and mostly kicking...just not able to fully acclimate myself to the life of working nights. Especially to Miel, whom I hope to catch up with soon...love ya girl!!!

My Long-Awaited Return

Hello all! Sorry I've been absent for so long, I've been trying to get used to the new work schedule, etc. I've officially completed my first month on the job, and last week received the ultimate reward for all my hard work. Pink eye in not one, but both eyes. I've never had the pink eye before and I must tell you it's quite a treat. Blech.

In other news, we acquired a stray dog over the weekend and we're trying to find her owner. Of all dogs, of course it HAD to be a beagle. She's a tri-colored beagle and the vet guessed she's in the neighborhood of one year old. We're keeping her until at least next Tuesday, which is the last day that the ad about her will be in the newspaper. After that I guess we'll try to find her a good home, since Abby is really not fond of having another dog in her house!

Considering Canada

America and I are not on speaking terms today. Okay, so apparently there's people who want Scott to stay regardless of his past and I can understand that. But NIKKO? Really, America? I'm so mad that the guy who, in my opinion, was the coolest and most unique in the competition, has been voted off for a second time. I would have understood it if he had really sucked this week, but he didn't and there were plenty of others who did. Also not sucking? Vonzell. What was SHE doing in the bottom three? I thought she was the best of the night! Bah.

So after the show I decided that America and I should go our separate ways, and I told Mike I was considering defecting to Canada. He suggested Mexico, since the weather would be more to my liking. He made a good point, so I wondered if Hawaii would consider breaking things off with America so I could go live happily ever after where the chickens run free?

Kudos and Free Publicity

Wow, two posts in one day! This one is just to say that thanks to Miel, I finally have some links on the page for you. I've posted links to both Miel and DeAnn's diaries as promised, as well as links to a couple of my favorite sites. Now that I know how to do it, I'll be adding more links soon, including one to The Real P. Nilly, if I can get him to forgive me for being a Cowboys fan.

Training Day

Training day has arrived, and sadly Denzel Washington is nowhere in sight. Instead, today is the first day I get the privilege of trying to train two co-workers to do my job when I leave. I expect said training to be trying in the worst sort of way, and while I don't plan to go all "King Kong ain't got NOTHIN' on me!" about it, you never can tell.

In short dear readers, I ask you to send happy vibes my way, lest I end up on CNN for my long-awaited reign of terror in central Illinois.

I also ask that any American Idol watchers not vote for Scott no matter how he sounds tonight, I want that creepy bastard OFF. MY. TV.

That is all.

Ten Kinds of Chaos

I hope everyone had a good Easter, I know I did. My parents came down on Thursday night and were able to stay until Monday afternoon, so we had more time than usual to hang out. We had a great dinner Friday night for Mike's birthday and my new job, and we went to see Bill Engvall on Saturday night. Other than that, there was much fishing, walk-taking, and general hanging around the house together. It was nice to have a few days to relax for a change. The only downsides were that I had to go to class for 6 hours on Saturday morning, and Mike and Mom were both sickly. They both seem to have the same cough/cold thing, and it seems to have snuck up on me as well now.

After a nice long weekend and now that I don't feel so great, the last place I wanted to go today was to work. If I weren't going to be gone most of the week already, I definitely would have stayed home today and nursed some cold medicine and chicken soup.

As I count down my final days of employment here, this place is absolute chaos. I suppose that should come as no surprise, since there is still no plan as to what will happen when I leave, so I'm set to train my two co-workers how to do the stuff I do next week. They have no idea how the work will be divided or when/if someone else will be hired, so they both have to learn to do everything. That should prove to be quite an adventure.

The weather here is so nice right now that I can't wait until I have my days free to enjoy it. It's cloudy today, but the temperature is in the mid 60's and it feels great. Between nicer weather coming around the bend and the upcoming time change, I'm thrilled to have some nicer days with more daylight hours!
